62nd Airlift Wing AMC McChord AFB, Washington C-141B 4th/7th/8th Airlift Squadrons

The 62nd MAW was redesignated from Air Transport Wing status in January 1966, having originally formed in July 1947 as a Troop Carrier Wing. The wing was equipped with the C-124C and C-141A, the latter type having replaced the faithful Globemaster by 1969. One squadron of C-130Es was assigned from July 1975 until 1989, when that squadron converted to the C-141B. In keeping with other MAC units the change to a designation of Airlift Wing took place in September 1991.
